Unsteady March

I’m still having issues with my websites’ search engine results. Back in January it seemed like I got penalised for something (whatever that may be). In February however I received a quite good amount of traffic from Google.
Now let’s take a look at the following stats from the beginning of March until now:

Google Analytics Stats

This is the fourth crash within about three weeks now. Then also my confidence in the whole site is up one minute, down the next. Now I’m waiting for getting back on track. Looking at the stats history it tells me everything should be fine by tomorrow.
Well, despite everything it motivates me to work harder on the backlink subject in hope for a more steady behaviour in the Google SERPs.

The green bar moved!

It’s no secret anymore that there’s another Page Rank update going on at the moment. I was and I still am hoping for some improvent on my German websites. However nothing’s happened so far.
But then it hit me. When Peter dropped me a message that there was a Page Rank of 4 shown on my UK site. What’s going on? There are almost no links pointing to that website. Only two quite weak ones which were meant to index the site on Google when I launched it.
Also I read that the current update is supposed to be based on data from the beginning of December. I just registered the 6th of December. I find that weird and I still don’t trust it.

By the way: in case you don’t know how the PR is calculated, Philipp Lenssen makes it quite clear.

Google’s testing new AdSense look

I’ve read about it before. However just now I’ve seen it on my own site: Google is testing a new look for the header of their AdSense advertisements. I reloaded the page several times however didn’t get a second look.

Google shows Quality Score for each keyword

found via Search Engine Watch Blog:

It appears as if Google has replaced the edit listing column with a listing of the Quality Score for each keyword.

see screenshot from Barry Schwartz.

I think that’s really cool and much more usefull than the ‘edit bid’ column.

Organic traffic boost

Since Sunday I benefit from much more organic traffic - increased by at least 50%! I’m ranked much higher for some quite specific keywords now. On the other hand I ‘lost’ some other keywords for which I fell back on page 2 or even worse. However in total I’m off much better than before.
Obviously a lot of other websites are affected, too. Some positive, some negative of course.
